Students’ Preferable Learning Layer In

Web Based Learning Environment

ABSTRACT

 

The purpose of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Adaptive Web-based Self-Directed Learning system during Educational Technology course. 50 students were selected to use ASDL. A pre-experimental research design of one group pretest and post test was used in this research. Data was collected using the SDL readiness scale questionnaire, performance test, interview, system log, and web-based learning evaluation form. ASDL had been designed to cater for students with different level of SDL. The result from the evaluation of ASDL showed that there is a significant difference in students’ academic performance. Pearson correlation analysis showed that there is no correlation between SDL and student’s performance.  Decision tree analysis showed that most of the students selected complete note as the most preferable learning layer. In conclusion, the study proves that the ASDL system has the potential to improve students’ SDL and their academic performance.
