A SURVEY ON USING POETRY IN GOOD LANGUAGE PRACTICES

ABSTRACT

 

Many teachers in the rural schools have not made use of interesting literary materials to teach in their language classroom except the textbook. Therefore the purpose of this study is to survey the frequency of teachers using poetry innovatively to teach English Language effectively in the rural environment. Primary school English Language teachers who attended the KPKI course took part in this survey. The questionnaire used in this study consists of two sections. Data was collected by means of the survey methodology. The findings are discussed and it indicates that there is a need to look into ways of using poetry to teacher the four skills to enhance teaching in a language classroom.
