ABSTRACT

 

Item Response Model (IRM) has been widely employed in education evaluation and social science research in overseas countries and Malaysia.  In education field, it is able to assist educators to assess the quality of their test items which constitute measuring instruments for academic achievement. It also assists educators in improving the quality of the test items, building and expanding their item bank for future use. This article discusses the application of IRM in education evaluation by using Quest software as the main analysis tool. An example of a test paper and the candidates’ answer sheets from a learning institution were used to explain the application and to interpret the outputs analysis based on IRM.
